The World Needs More Heroes Today

September 2025
Letter from the President

Dear NAACP Members and Supporters,

Heroes come in different sizes, different shapes, different colors, different cultures, different faiths.

But heroes show up when needed most.  In the United States today, we need heroes more than ever before.  Governor Pritzker and Mayor Johnson, thank you for showing Illinois courage, fearlessness and how the arc of the universe is now bending towards Chicago justice.

Also present were many others including Senator Durbin and Senator Duckworth.  District of Colombia, you are not alone.  Other cities, unity with Chicago is what will upend any dictatorship and restore Democracy.  Unity.
I want to report on two more heroes whose courage, resilience and fearlessness are sterling examples for everyone in our nation today.

There is a fear that has crept into many hearts.

Those who stand opposed to the current administration, those who publicly speak out or write against the current administration, must begin looking at some very hard facts.  Loss of employment, threats against your well-being or life, and a very nasty public annihilation of your character are all quick responses that will be aimed against you.

It has become dangerous for popular people with large followings to disagree with those in office.

Lisa Cook is the first Black woman to sit on the Federal Reserve Board.  A multi-millionaire ally of the president has accused her of mortgage fraud (a lie) that prompted Trump to call for her resignation.  Lisa is yet one more black woman on a very long list who has been threatened, talked down upon, scorned and "demonized" by the so many who are in the current administration.  Cook's current term on the board extends to 2038.  She previously served on the council of economic advisors under Barack Obama.

Bill Pulte is head of the US Federal Housing Finance Committee.  He forwarded information to the Oval Office, disparaging Cook's reputation.  Pulte and others pulled the same chicanery regarding another black woman
Letitia James, New York's Attorney General.

Pulte- attended Northwestern where he studied journalism.  He also had an immensely wealthy well-connected grandfather.  He built his empire on...what else, real estate.  One might guess Trump and William Pulte the grandfather had business dealings in the past.

Lisa Cook- attended Spelman, St. Hilda's College- Oxford, Cheik Anta Dio University, University of California- Berkley.  A professor of economics and international relations at Michigan State, an authority on international economics and Russian Economics.  Her work is at the intersection of macroeconomics and economic history.  In a word- BRILLIANT

Letitia James- attended Lehman College, Howard University and Columbia University.  She worked as a public defender, served on the staff of the N.Y. State Assembly, was a member of the New York City Council and was the New York City Public Advocate for five years.  In a word- BRILLIANT

The sisters studied and excelled everywhere and are simply, head and shoulders more brilliant than Pulte and his boss.  He has a BA in journalism, that's all.  But he is now the Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency.  He is worth $100 million dollars, thanks to his grandfather.

Call it what it is- racism and sexism in the worst way.  This from someone who is so wealthy and networked, until most will not publicly disagree or denounce his awful rhetoric.

Black and brown women are at the top, no matter what their enemies say or try to do to topple them.  We must support our sisters, assist our sisters, go to battle for our sisters, hunt down those who are damaging our sisters, and if need be, die for our sisters so they can  take their rightful place.

It’s time for racists, sexists and biased people to go sit down. Let a new earth rise!
