If you are a victim of a Hate Crime

According to the US Department of Justice a hate crime is violence and bigotry, intended to hurt and intimidate someone because of their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, or disability.

• If you are injured in the incident, call 911 immediately.
• Write down all the details of the crime as soon as you are able to do .
• Save any evidence of the incident (i.e. damage property, letter, email, etc)

Report incident, with all the details you can remember to local law enforcement. Make sure a police report is filed, making note that you believe this was a hate crime. Get the responding officer’s name and badge number.
