The Evanston/North Shore Branch of the NAACP is pleased to announce the 2023 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM. If you are a graduating high school student and seeking to continue your education at an accredited 2-year community/junior college, 4-year college/university, or certificate of training technical school, download this application to tell us more about yourself, your interests and your needs.

Scholarship Deadline: March 25, 2023
No applications will be considered after March 25, 2023.  No application will be considered complete without all (this includes the picture) of the requested documents. 

NAACP Scholarship Requirements
                                                                                                                           
APPLICATION CHECKLIST: (Please review as you complete documents to submit. Incomplete applications will be disqualified).

  • At least a 2.5 grade point average. (Verified with HS transcript)
  • Completed Application (the application may be reproduced)
  • An official high school transcript 
  • A recent black & white or color photograph. It may be an actual photo, copy, or Internet photo. 
  • A letter of acceptance or class schedule from your College/university/technical School.  (If available)
  • MUST HAVE TWO (2) LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION 1) One Letter of Recommendation must be from a teacher/instructor, counselor or school administrator familiar with the academic achievements of the applicant ​2) One Letter of Recommendation must be from a member of the community (i.e. employer, religious leader, club/organization leader, etc.) who can speak about the applicant’s character and potential.

The Rosetta V. Gradford Continuing Education Scholarship was established in 2003, to support any adult, who is continuing their education in college, graduate school, professional licensing or certification. Mrs. Gradford has been a member of our local branch since 1957, attending 38 national conventions, and became our first and longest sitting (36 years) committee chair of the Life Membership Committee from 1967-2003. (Evanston/North Shore Branch of NAACP founded in 1917)

Scholarship Deadline: April 15, 2023
No applications will be considered after April 15, 2023.  No application will be considered complete without all of the requested documents. 

NAACP Scholarship Requirements
                                                                                                                           
APPLICATION CHECKLIST: (Please review as you complete documents to submit. Incomplete applications will be disqualified).
  • Letter of Request with statement of personal goals/objectives and overview of community involvement (school, community, religious, any volunteer services, etc.) including Name, Address, phone, fax, and e-mail contact information.
  • At least a 2.5 grade point average at your current or most recent Institution (if you have transferred).
  • An official transcript of your most recent grades (quarter or semester)
  • An official schedule of your upcoming quarter/semester schedule 
  • MUST HAVE TWO (2) LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION 1) One Letter of Recommendation must be from a teacher/instructor, counselor or school administrator familiar with the academic achievements of the applicant 2) One Letter of Recommendation must be from a member of the community (i.e. employer, religious leader, club/organization leader, etc.) who can speak about the applicant’s character and potential.
  • If you have applied for a NAACP Scholarship as a senior at Evanston Township High School or have been a recipient of a NAACP Scholarship prior to 2021, you do not need to submit two letters of recommendation.(Please indicate in your request)
